These will be clearly marked for you. Alterations will incur an extra charge, but the sale will be worth it!

Travel Style

Recently I was able to “get out of Dodge” and travel a bit. Throughout each adventure I was wearing clothes from Ken’s.

I paid special attention to each piece, how it would be worn, where, and in what climate. These few really stood out:

Patrick Assaraf Crew T-Shirts

This tee is 100% pima cotton. It features a stone wash effect, which adds depth and sophistication.

This is not your average t-shirt. The inside features a cotton gauze that truly absorbs sweat. I was in 90% humidity and my torso did not show one ounce of perspiration!

DEKE Shorts

These are everything we say and more! The waistbands are extremely comfortable, the fabric moves with the body, and they wash perfectly. I took the performance stretch for daily exercises, and the twill for lounging and touring.

Raffi Linen Shirt

I wore this more times than I should have, but it went with both my twill shorts and my linen/cotton Brax pants. Tucked in or untucked, it was a great addition to the trip!

Side note: I loved that the Brax pants looked like linen but performed like cotton, without the extra wrinkles.

Anderson Braided Belt

I took ONE belt with a multicolored design, and paired up with every outfit as needed. Many times my shirt was untucked, but when I needed to tuck it in, this belt was perfect! This was especially true with my waistline constantly changing due to travel — no preset holes made this accessory easy to wear every day.

The Bill Hunt Memorial Scholarship

This year I was unable to attend the ceremony for the Bill Hunt Memorial Scholarship Award at GHS. In my place, Caleb Williams, who won the award in 2002, presented it in his own fashion.

Caleb spoke of how the award changed the trajectory of his life. We hope that this year’s winner, Emma G., will feel the same!

Caleb wore our Maverick sock to pay homage to the legend, Ken Helfman.

Fatherhood

Many of our clients share the experience of fatherhood with me when we chat at the shop. Sometimes it is about the hardships of modern parenting, and other times we’re voicing pride in our children’s accomplishments. No matter, we all are in this together, even if the circumstances differ. The commonality is the consistency of being present, giving sound advice, showing the path to adulthood, and instilling our family values.

I was brought up here in the middle of Dallas by my loving family. Our village was not only made up of of aunts, uncles, and cousins, but also friends, their families, our synagogue, and sports teams. Even those connections from long in the past still affect me positively today.

My father has been gone for eighteen months now, and I still miss his humor and counsel. I relish the opportunity when my own adult children reach out to chat or ask advice. Or my favorite — when they just want to hang out together for no reason. My door will always be open.

Fatherhood is a blessing some get to partake in. It is not always easy, and the grey hairs are well earned. Being present with my kids in the now is an honor that I do not take for granted.

I wish all dads out there the happiest of Father’s Days. May your family give you a little extra love on that day and beyond.

As always, thank you for reading and for being part of our community!
