Ken’s Custom Event Begins Soon
We will be offering special pricing on Ken’s Custom items, starting September 25th!
Do you need a new suit, sport coat, overcoat, casual jacket, or tuxedo? Perhaps more sport shirts or dress shirts?
Let us be of assistance. Your wardrobe is an investment, and needs regular updates for optimal growth.
Do you know someone whose body has been going through changes from medications or surgeries? Has someone in your life been working hard at the gym and now has an athletic frame? Let them know Ken’s can assist them on their journey.
This event is for ONE WEEK ONLY and is right around the corner. If you haven’t already, please go to our Calendly page to schedule 1-on-1 time with your haberdasher between the dates of September 25 and October 2nd.

Kory describes all the detail that goes into Ken’s custom designs.
Closet Makeover Time
It’s time to transition your closet! Yes, it is still warm out, but the cooler mornings and evenings will be here sooner than you think. Start now so you can take your time preparing for autumn and winter.
Step 1: Remove any clothing that wasn’t worn or didn’t fit. These are just taking up space at this point.
Step 2: Take the items you did wear often and launder or dry clean them before moving them into storage. We suggest placing them in a different closet if possible, or at least cover them with a Ken’s garment bag so they are fresh next season.

Next, look at your fall outerwear and sweaters. Do they need to be replaced or refreshed? Will you wear them this season? Make these decisions before adding them back in.
Do the same with each category: shirts, shoes, trousers, suits, and sport coats.
Lastly, identify gaps in your wardrobe. Perhaps you have a black tie event on the calendar but your tux is twenty years old. Or maybe you need a soft-shouldered blazer for travel.
Need help? Contact your haberdasher. We’re happy to assist to make this an easy process.
Name Dropping at the Haberdashery
As we mentioned in the last blog, ONCEPT shoes are here — drop by before they’re all gone! These are the most sought-after brand this season, and the next collection won’t land until November.
Marcello – This Italian shirt line has made itself at home here in Dallas. The fit is between an Eton contemporary and slim. You can really feel the quality of the fabric the moment you put your hand to it. The unique one-piece roll collars stay open, but very upright and strong. These shirts can be worn with any type of trouser, but look especially great under jackets, sweaters, and vests.

Meyer – A staple at Ken’s for over a decade, this family-owned German brand continues to push the envelope in construction, style, and fit. Most of our gents know the basic in-house stretch slacks that we carry in a multitude of solid colors. They’re the perfect wardrobe staple.
New to the shop this fall is the Cavalry Twill slack. This pant has a light texture with a diagonal strong weave, in four solid colors. These slacks look great with Marcello or Eton shirts, and also work well with a vest or sweater. Drop in to see our newest styles from Meyer!

Your Next Formal Event
The Ken’s wedding and formal department has evolved over the years. Between grooms, groomsmen, fathers, brothers, and friends, we are assisting multiple wedding parties each week!
That’s not the only reason to go formal – the Dallas charitable scene offers many black tie galas throughout the year. Just having a tuxedo alone is often not enough.
Your wife usually does not wear the same formal gown to each event, and you should change it up, too. Ken’s stocks many different styles of tuxedo shirts, bow ties, and accessories for this reason. Many of our gents create an extra formal jacket to go along with their tuxedo pants for a change of pace. This could be velvet, embroidered, or even a white dinner jacket. The possibilities are endless!
A True Local Hero
Lee Greer had been an executive with Jason’s deli for over 25 years when he left the food industry after experiencing life-threatening medical issues.
Then he decided to take over his family’s farm in Aledo, Texas.
He has been committed to providing 100% organic vegetables to local food pantries around the Metroplex area. This year alone, he has supplied 1,600 pounds of vegetables. This past weekend he opened the farm’s first greenhouse.
Fun fact: Lee also happens to be my eldest brother, the son of Jerri Helfman.
For North Texas Giving Day the farm is accepting any and all donations, so they can continue to give food to the food pantries that usually do not have organic vegetables.
They are also eager for volunteers to come to the farm and help out. Be a farmer for a day, or for however long you want! If you’d like to get some hands-on experience with farming while giving back to the community through helping a worthwhile cause, reach out to me and I’ll pass your info along.
Help feed Texans in need — make your donation here.
As always, thank you for reading and being part of the Ken’s community. We look forward to seeing you at our custom event on the 25th!
