Haberdashers’ Christmas
The haberdashers got together this Christmas to celebrate friendship, team, and the holiday spirit. We all had a wonderful time cooking and playing games at Carolina’s house.
While we share many moments of joy at work, it was extra special to spend time together in a personal setting. We are each unique, but every member of our team shares the drive to passionately serve, thoughtfully maintain relationships, and wholeheartedly enjoy the human connections we have cultivated with each other and our clientele.
Loss, Love, and Remodeling
2024 has been a roller coaster of a ride. In January we lost our founder and my father, Ken. He is still with us daily as we continue to strive forward. Each of my family members has taken a different path of healing from the loss, and yet we still lean on each other. Our love runs deep and is felt by all, especially when we get together!
My (now grown) kids are working full time as engineers, one here in Dallas and the other in Cleveland, Ohio. Suzanna had her first grandchild, Hendrix, back in 2022. In 2024 her kids blessed her with two more grand-babies, Bear and Madi.
In August we began our remodel. This had been planned for early 2020, but Covid interrupted that timeline. We made great progress this year, and the results are even better than we imagined! If you haven’t been by the shop, please come in and see the difference. In 2025, we are planning our last phases in the back areas of the shop, to complete the transformation and improve the flow of the space.
In December we welcomed our newest Haberdasher, Patrick Ware, to the team. He brings decades of experience and a new fashion perspective to Ken’s.
In 2024 we have had more third- and fourth-generation clients than ever before! It is wonderful for us to see fathers and grandfathers bringing in the younger generations to get their first business suits, college clothing, and more from Ken’s. They get to hear the story of how we began, who Ken was, and what was so special about him. They experience firsthand what has kept this haberdashery alive for 60 years and counting!
2025 Expectations
I have been considering 2025 for many months now. While there will be changes on multiple fronts outside the shop, we will primarily be focusing on our strengths within. We will bring even more depth to each collection of our highlighted brands. If you enjoy our custom offerings, you will be delighted by our new, small batch mill collections, a wider selection of fabrics from existing mills, and even more options in classifications and models, like the car coat we carried this past fall, the shirt jackets, knitwear, and more.
As we move into each month and season, I will be discussing the latest color palettes, brands, and trends, and how to style them. Follow along on social media to see and understand the latest styles and offerings in the shop. We are active on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
The haberdashery will be hosting quite a few events this spring, beginning in March. If you haven’t signed up for our emails or texts, please do so to receive all the news.
We will be introducing the special Ken’s wallet this spring as well. Everyone is going to want one!
Gratitude
I sometimes feel that the word “gratitude” has been overused lately (just like the word “passion” in 2020 and 2021). However, no other word seems to fit — I truly cannot thank each and every one of you enough for assisting me, our family, and the Ken’s clan throughout 2024.
At times it has been overwhelming to see, feel, and hear the love expressed for Ken and our family. I do not know if I would have been able to get through this year without your support and encouragement. I continue to be in awe of the depth of the relationships we have built over these 60 years, and the community within. It is a blessing to be here to serve each and every day, with gratitude.
As always, thanks for reading and being part of the Ken’s community — Happy New Year!
