“We can change anything but the face” was one of my father’s “Kenisms” for years.
We all chuckled over this comment every time he said it.
Our team has been working diligently to challenge that wisdom! Though it is next to impossible to accomplish changing the face with clothing, we finally found a way to get the job done, with no plastic surgery required.
Now at the haberdashery, and soon to be on our website, is the organic Ken’s Hydro Shave Face Wash & Shave Cream.
We have been testing this for months! After a grueling workout or working in the garden, it has been such a pleasure to go inside and wash my face with this product.
Never abrasive nor oily, it is a hydrating gel that gently glides on to cleanse, and easily rinses off your face and beard.
For shaving, it is even better! It doesn’t clog razors, and it allows you to see your beard as you shave, unlike traditional shave cream. This product features fulvic acid, which allows it to heal the skin as you shave. Say goodbye to neck rashes, ingrown hairs, or burns from shaving!
The product comes in an 8 oz amber glass bottle. This helps protect the 100% organic product from light and heat. The tea tree scent is aromatherapeutic and very subtle after rinsing.
We also have small .05 oz samples at the front desk if you would like to take a test drive first. I am reusing my sample jar for all my summer travels!

We Put Our ❤️ into It!
The last weekend of April was an amazing one for the haberdashers! We were able to see the final results of many custom and off-the-rack garments being worn at the American Heart Association’s centennial Côtes du Coeur Gala. There were over 1,500 people in attendance from all over the nation, and over 4 million dollars were raised that weekend for the AHA!
Your haberdashers were attired in Ken’s finest, and attended with their spouses and partners. The multi-course meal was created by seven celebrity Dallas chefs, who outdid themselves this year! The wine pairings and wine tasting were outstanding as well. The night didn’t stop there, either — the AHA afterparty is where the fun truly begins!
I have to say that although working with this team gives me much joy, getting to dance with them as well was an absolute delight!
Last Week to Save!

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. My mom has been convalescing from knee replacement surgery at my sister’s home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and is spending the weekend with my sister and her family. To speak with her daily is a blessing due to her positive nature, kind heart, and inquisitive mind. I am looking forward to being with her in person in June!
I was not a troublemaker growing up, but I was troubled nonetheless. My mom always saw through me and knew instinctively the root of any situation. She didn’t always let me know that she knew, but her antidotes were the perfect cure. She has always been my constant, my cheerleader, and though I didn’t realize it when I was young, she was also my friend and mentor. Her teachings were not just for the girls at Hockaday, but for those of us at home as well.
I do believe the main reason I love to teach karate is because she instilled the teaching bug in me, from the womb onward. To pass along knowledge, history, and value to others is truly a calling.
A mother’s love is different from a father’s love. I am extremely blessed to have had both.
I wish you, the mother of your children, your own mom, and all the mother figures out there, the happiest of Mother’s Days. May it be everything you wish for yourself.
